The Leadership Group brings together key representatives from each of the region’s six sub regions and from the business, sport, culture, tourism, education and volunteering sectors, as well as the Youth Parliament, disability interests and Government agencies.
More recently, the Leadership Group, chaired by David Moorcroft, has become the consortium officially recognised by London 2012's (LOCOG’s) Nations and Regions Group, to lead in the delivery of the benefits of the Games to the West Midlands Region.
The mission statement for the West Midlands is:
“Our ambition is to raise the profile of the region and deliver an Olympic moment for everyone in the West Midlands providing the inspiration for a legacy of opportunity for individuals, communities and businesses”.
